A new Legacy: Contemporary Art of Egypt

“If you could say it in words, there would be no reason to paint.” ― Edward Hopper

Painting is the expression of ideas and emotions through the creation of certain aesthetic qualities, in a two-dimensional visual language.

Each artist, with his or her own technique, combines the elements of this language - like shapes, lines, colors, tones, and textures – to produce sensations of volume, space, movement and light on a flat surface, creating a unique visual image that stimulates the senses.
Every painting is an opportunity for an exchange, a means through which emotions are translated into a universal language, dissolving all barriers and enabling dialogue across different cultures, languages and traditions.

Divine Art of Egypt commissions Egyptian artists who offer an alternative vision of Contemporary Egypt, as opposed to the long-established Pharaonic traditions the world has become accustomed to.
In homage to the time-honored papyrus, on which their ancestors transmitted secrets and mysteries of the ancient Egyptian civilization across the centuries, these artists decided to use this ancient medium to record scenes of modern Egypt, depicting day to day life the way they see it with a view to inviting the outside world to discover and fall in love with the country known in Arabic as ‘the Mother of the World’.

By using this innovative approach, bridging the historical with the contemporary, the artists succeeded in presenting to the outside world a view of Egypt that combines the glory of its past with the challenges of the present, while guiding people on a marvelous journey of discovery, that of aesthetic sensibilities of one of the richest civilizations in the history of humanity.
In this project by Divine Art of Egypt, Peacock for Art was commissioned by them to introduce technology and innovative marketing tools that create a connection between the audience and the artists for a different experience. An e-catalogue was made available during the exhibition and beyond and through some QR codes visitors had the chance to watch short interviews with the artists, while visiting the exhibition in Falls Church Arts Gallery, in Virginia (USA), in July 2019.
